How is adenomyosis diagnosed?

The cervix of patients with adenomyosis is rarely affected. Patients with adenomyosis need to keep warm and prevent cold; adjust their mood. So, how to diagnose adenomyosis?

At present, imaging examination is the most effective means of preoperative diagnosis of adenomyosis. The sensitivity of vaginal ultrasound examination is 80%, and the specificity can reach 74%, which is more accurate than the abdominal probe. In adenomyosis, B-ultrasound can show that the uterus is uniformly enlarged and the echo is uneven; in adenomyoma, B-ultrasound can show that the uterus is unevenly enlarged, with local protrusions, and the lesions are heterogeneous and highly echogenic.

Dysmenorrhea is the main symptom of adenomyosis, which occurs in about 80% of patients. Most patients present with secondary dysmenorrhea with progressive aggravation. As the disease progresses, the pain may start about one week before menstruation, or may extend to one to two weeks after menstruation. In a few patients, the pain occurs before and after menstruation, and is still cyclical.

Excessive menstruation is another major symptom of adenomyosis, which often leads to anemia. A small number of patients experience heavy bleeding, which is easily misdiagnosed as functional uterine bleeding. A small number of patients are infertile. Gynecological examination shows that the uterus is enlarged, mostly uniform and hard, and generally does not exceed the size of 12 weeks of pregnancy, otherwise it may be combined with uterine fibroids. If the lesion only grows in a certain part of the uterus, adenomyosis may also appear as asymmetrical enlargement.

The harm of adenomyosis is very serious. Once suffering from this disease, the author recommends that patients go to a specialized hospital for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible.
