What are the complications of ovarian cysts?

What are the complications of ovarian cysts? The cause of any disease is necessary. If the condition is not treated in time, it is easy to cause serious complications. The same is true for ovarian cyst disease. In order to better prevent and treat ovarian cysts, you need to have a simple understanding of the disease and better understand the harm caused by the disease. So, what are the complications of ovarian cysts?

Cause infertility: Ovarian cysts are extremely harmful to women's health. The ovaries are where the eggs develop, mature and are released. Follicles at different stages are located in the ovarian cortex. If the ovaries are damaged, it will cause mechanical obstruction of the fallopian tubes, affect the ovulation function of the ovaries, and lead to infertility.

Ovarian cysts with pregnancy: For patients with ovarian cysts in early pregnancy, in order to avoid artificial abortion, it is advisable to wait until 3-4 months after pregnancy before surgery. If the cyst is found in the late pregnancy, it should be waited until the entire pregnancy. If the cyst blocks the birth canal, cesarean section and cyst removal should be performed at the same time. If it is diagnosed as a malignant ovarian cyst, surgery should be performed as soon as possible without considering the fetus. The treatment principles are the same as those for non-pregnancy.

Ovarian cyst malignant transformation: benign ovarian tumors are more common in the elderly, especially postmenopausal women. The tumor grows rapidly in a short period of time. The patient feels bloating and loss of appetite. The tumor volume increases significantly, is fixed, and has ascites. If there is suspicion of malignant transformation, it should be treated in time.

Ovarian cyst pedicle torsion: This complication is very common and is one of the acute gynecological abdomen. Most of them are cystic tumors with long pedicles, medium size, high mobility, and one-sided center of gravity. They often occur in sudden changes in body position, early pregnancy or postpartum. After pedicle torsion, due to the obstruction of tumor venous return, congestion, purple-brown color, and even rupture of blood vessels, bleeding, and arterial occlusion, tumor necrosis and infection may occur.

Infection: This is a rare condition, usually secondary to tumor pedicle torsion or rupture. The main symptoms are fever, abdominal pain, leukocytosis, and varying degrees of peritonitis. Infection should be controlled and surgery performed.

Tumor rupture: Spontaneous rupture may be caused by ischemic necrosis of the cyst wall or erosion of the tumor through the cyst wall; or traumatic rupture may be caused by squeezing, childbirth, gynecological examination and puncture. After rupture, fluid flows into the abdominal cavity, irritating the peritoneum, which may cause severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and even shock. During the examination, there are abdominal irritation signs such as abdominal wall tension, tenderness, and rebound pain, and the original mass shrinks or disappears. After diagnosis, the abdomen should be opened immediately to remove the cyst and clean the peritoneum.

The above is a description of "What are the complications of ovarian cysts?" In our lives, we must take corresponding preventive measures, especially for female friends who are workaholics. I hope that through a brief introduction to the above article, we can understand the complications of this disease. If we are sick, we should go to the hospital immediately for active treatment. The best time for treatment has been delayed.
