What does artificial abortion include?

Artificial abortion refers to the termination of pregnancy by surgical methods within 3 months of pregnancy, including vacuum aspiration and forceps curettage.

1. Negative pressure aspiration:

Negative pressure suction refers to inserting a suction tube into the uterine cavity, using negative pressure to suck out the embryonic tissue and terminate the pregnancy. The operation content is: after emptying the bladder, the lithotomy position, routine disinfection, paving, rechecking the position, size, inclination and accessories of the uterus, exposing and disinfecting the colposcope; clamping the anterior lip of the cervix with a cervical clamp, and detecting the uterine flexion and depth along the uterine position probe; dilating the cervix with a cervical dilator from small to large. Those who are nervous or sensitive to pain should be anesthetized; performing a negative pressure suction experiment before suction, after confirming that it is correct, select the suction tube thickness and negative pressure according to the gestational age, and suck the uterine cavity in a clockwise direction for 1 to 2 weeks to suck out the pregnancy; gently scrape the uterine cavity with a small scraper, paying special attention to avoid incomplete suction; check whether the aspirated material has villi or embryonic tissue, whether it is consistent with the month of pregnancy, and send it for pathological examination in time if abnormalities are found.

2. Curettage:

Forceps curettage is a larger type of artificial abortion and requires hospitalization. Regular disinfection, draping, and removal of the catheter are performed. For those who are nervous, fearful, or overly sensitive to pain, anesthesia should be given before dilating the cervix; then the cervix should be fully dilated with a cervical dilator, the fetal membrane should be clamped first, and uterine contraction drugs should be used appropriately after the amniotic fluid flows out; after the placenta and fetal tissue are clamped with an oval forceps, an appropriate suction tube is placed into the uterine cavity for absorption. Use a medium-sized scraper to clean the uterus, measure the depth of the uterine cavity again, observe whether the fetus is intact, and check for bleeding and damage.
