Causes of cervical hypertrophy

Causes of cervical hypertrophy

Cervical hypertrophy is a pathological type of chronic cervicitis. It is mainly caused by long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation, which leads to cervical congestion, edema, hyperplasia, inflammatory cell infiltration and thickening of fibrous connective tissue, making the cervix larger and harder. Cervical hypertrophy is usually caused by chronic inflammatory stimulation, estrogen stimulation, cervical gland cysts, pelvic congestion, uterine smooth muscle and vascular hyperplasia.

1. Chronic inflammatory stimulation:

Long-term stimulation and inflammation lead to congestion, edema, glandular and stroma hyperplasia of cervical tissue, resulting in cervical hypertrophy, which is common in diseases such as chronic cervicitis, pelvic connective tissue inflammation, and chronic adnexitis.

2. Estrogen stimulation:

Due to the continuous stimulation of estrogen, the uterine muscle layer can be thickened, that is, cervical hypertrophy. Clinically, patients with common functional uterine bleeding, especially those with a long course of disease, have varying degrees of cervical hypertrophy.

3. Cervical gland cyst:

Retention of cervical gland mucus can form cysts of varying sizes, leading to cervical hypertrophy.

4. Pelvic congestion:

Pelvic blood stasis causes hyperplasia of uterine connective tissue and may also cause cervical hypertrophy.

5. Uterine smooth muscle and vascular hyperplasia:

In multiparous women, elastic fibers of the uterine myometrium proliferate around smooth muscles and blood vessels, leading to uterine hypertrophy. Primary uterine vascular disease can also lead to cervical hypertrophy.

Patients with cervical hypertrophy should maintain good hygiene habits and avoid multiple abortions or intrauterine surgery.
