Will ovarian cysts affect the normal menstrual cycle?

Ovarian cysts generally include ovarian physiological cysts, chocolate cysts, ovarian true tumors, etc. Generally speaking, normal physiological cysts will not affect the menstrual cycle, while chocolate cysts and ovarian true tumors may affect the normal menstrual cycle.

1. Ovarian physiological cysts: mainly include follicular cysts, corpus luteum cysts, etc., which are normal physiological changes in women. Generally, the diameter does not exceed 5 cm. Most of them can disappear on their own, usually do not affect ovarian function and menstrual cycle, and do not require special treatment.

2. Chocolate cyst: Generally due to ovarian ectopic endometrial growth, bleeding during the menstrual cycle leads to the formation of old blood cysts, which generally cause dysmenorrhea and chronic lower abdominal pain. Some symptoms may affect menstruation, menstrual volume, prolonged or endless menstruation, early menstrual spotting, etc. If a chocolate cyst occurs, it may affect the normal menstrual cycle.

3. True ovarian tumor: refers to ovarian tumors, including benign tumors, borderline tumors and malignant tumors. If the ovarian tumor is relatively small, it will have little effect on ovarian function and usually will not affect menstruation. However, if the tumor is too large or the tumor destroys the ovarian structure, it may cause changes in ovarian function, affect ovarian ovulation, and then affect menstruation, leading to menstrual cycle disorders.

Patients should pay attention to rest, avoid fatigue, eat a light and balanced diet during the medication process, and seek medical attention in time if they have any discomfort.
