What causes cervical erosion?

Cervical erosion refers to the ectopic cervical columnar epithelium, and its causes can be summarized as follows:

1. Age factor: Cervical columnar epithelial ectopia is a physiological phenomenon related to age. As age increases, some women may experience physiological cervical columnar epithelial ectopia, which usually does not require special treatment.

2. Unclean sexual life: Unclean sexual life is another common factor leading to cervical erosion. If men do not pay attention to the hygiene of the penis, it is easy to breed bacteria. During sexual life, these bacteria may enter the female vagina and then infect the cervix, causing cervical columnar epithelial ectopia.

3. Excessive cleaning: Some women may destroy the normal acid-base balance in the vagina due to excessive cleaning, affecting the growth of normal vaginal flora and reducing its ability to inhibit bacteria, thereby inducing damage to the cervical epithelium.

4. Excessive estrogen secretion: When estrogen secretion is vigorous, excessive estrogen may cause the cervical columnar epithelium to move outward, covering the part originally covered by the squamous epithelium, causing red particles to appear on the surface of the cervix or local red erosion-like changes. This is an important cause of cervical erosion.

5. Uterine damage: Multiple artificial abortions, curettage, delivery operations, and gynecological operations such as curettage may cause varying degrees of damage to the female uterus, resulting in damage to the cervical mucosa, making it easier for bacteria or viruses to invade the cervix and cause cervical inflammation. Long-term cervical inflammation may stimulate the proliferation of cervical columnar epithelium and form cervical erosion.

In order to prevent cervical columnar epithelium ectopia, women are advised to maintain good living habits, pay attention to sexual hygiene, avoid unclean sexual life and excessive cleaning, undergo regular gynecological examinations, and promptly detect and treat gynecological diseases such as cervical inflammation.
