How are the causes of irregular menstruation in women classified? There are two main categories of causes of irregular menstruation.

Irregular menstruation is a general term for various diseases. It is mainly caused by various reasons, such as abnormal menstrual cycle length, abnormal menstrual volume. There are also some abnormal symptoms before and after menstruation. This phenomenon is collectively called irregular menstruation.

There are two main reasons for irregular menstruation:

1. Caused by neuroendocrine dysfunction: mainly due to unstable or defective function of the posterior brain-pituitary-ovarian axis, that is, menstrual disorder.

2. Caused by organic diseases or drugs: including inflammation, tumors, developmental abnormalities, malnutrition of local reproductive organs; intracranial diseases; other endocrine dysfunctions such as thyroid and adrenal cortex dysfunction, diabetes, Sheehan's disease, liver diseases; blood diseases, etc. Those who use drugs for the treatment of mental illness; endocrine preparations or intrauterine contraceptive devices may have irregular menstruation. Some occupations, such as long-distance runners, are prone to amenorrhea. In addition, some abnormal bleeding during pregnancy is often mistaken for irregular menstruation.

In clinical diagnosis of neuroendocrine dysfunctional menstrual disorders, the above-mentioned organic causes must be excluded.

Classification of irregular menstruation

Menorrhagia: refers to excessive menstrual flow or a menstrual period that is longer than normal. Irregular menstruation: refers to irregular menstrual cycles and light menstrual flow. Irregular menorrhagia: refers to irregular menstrual cycles accompanied by excessive menstrual flow and prolonged menstrual period. Oligomenorrhea: refers to regular menstrual cycles with only reduced menstrual flow. Intermenstrual bleeding: refers to a small amount of uterine bleeding between two normal regular menstrual periods, often accompanied by ovulation and ovulation pain.
