How to treat abdominal distension after uterine fibroid surgery? How to care for uterine fibroid surgery?

After uterine fibroid surgery, patients often experience some postoperative reactions and symptoms, with abdominal distension being the most common symptom. In order to reduce these symptoms, it is best for patients to do relevant nursing work. So how to take care of it? Here is an introduction.

1. Care for uterine fibroid wounds

Wound care: Laparoscopic wounds are usually 1 cm long at the navel and 0.5 cm in the lower abdomen. After surgery, the one-centimeter wound is usually or simply sutured. At this time, absorbable or non-absorbable sutures can be used. If non-absorbable sutures are used, the sutures do not need to be removed 7 days after surgery if absorbable sutures are used; as for the 0.5 cm wound, it can be taped with breathable tape, but sometimes in order to increase the neatness of wound healing, stitches and simple sutures can also be used. For the care of these wounds, before showering or getting wet, care should be taken to keep the wound clean, dry, and other wounds completely healed (about 10 days). Most importantly, since the number of days in hospital for laparoscopic patients is very short, patients must pay attention to whether the wound is red, swollen, hot, and painful every day after returning home to prevent infection and inflammation. However, inflammation of the wound after laparoscopic surgery is quite rare. .

2. Nutritional intake after uterine fibroid surgery

Nutritional intake: Usually, after laparoscopic surgery, patients should resume eating after regaining consciousness. First, drink some warm water. If there is no discomfort, they can start to eat liquid food (such as porridge). On the second day, they can resume normal diet. Because protein is needed for wound healing, high-protein foods (such as fish, lean meat, eggs...) should be consumed. In order to accelerate wound healing, irritating foods should be avoided to avoid stimulating gastric acid secretion and causing gastrointestinal discomfort (such as pepper, smoke, oil, coffee). After laparoscopic surgery, there is a tendency for residual carbon dioxide gas to remain in the abdomen. Therefore, the intake of vegetables and high-fiber fruits should be increased after surgery, and gas-producing foods such as sweet potatoes, beans, onions, etc. should be avoided. This can reduce the discomfort caused by abdominal distension after surgery. As for major surgery, due to the long anesthesia and surgery time, the gastrointestinal tract absorbs more gas, and it is more appropriate to eat after 24 hours. For patients who are prone to nausea, vomiting, and special physical constitution after surgery, there is no need to force themselves to eat. After the anesthesia completely subsides, you can eat.

The above are the nursing methods after uterine fibroid surgery. After uterine fibroid surgery, patients and friends should not ignore these nursing work. Many patients do not pay attention to related nursing work after surgery, resulting in slow recovery or even worsening of the condition.
