【Main acupoints for moxibustion】

1. Guanyuan

[Main Indications] Kidney deficiency, asthma, spermatorrhea, impotence, hernia, enuresis, stranguria, frequent urination, urinary retention, hematuria, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, leucorrhea, metrorrhagia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dysentery and urinary tract infection, functional uterine bleeding, uterine prolapse, neurasthenia, syncope, shock, etc.

2. Qihai

[Standard Positioning] The Qihai point of the human body is located in the lower abdomen, on the anterior midline, 1.5 inches below the navel.

【Indications】Abdominal pain around the navel, edema, abdominal distension, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, stranguria, enuresis, etc.

3. Zhongji

[Standard location] Renmai point. In the lower abdomen, on the anterior midline, 4 inches below the umbilicus. Mu point of the bladder.

[Main diseases treated] Urinary retention, leukorrhea, impotence, dysmenorrhea, postpartum lochia retention, prolapse of the uterus, hernia; pain caused by accumulation of mass, rushing to the heart when exposed to cold air; edema, syncope and stupor; nephritis, cystitis, postpartum uterine neuralgia.

4. Curved bone

[Standard location] Renmai acupoint. In the lower abdomen, on the anterior midline, at the midpoint of the upper edge of the pubic symphysis.

[Main diseases treated] Combined with Shenshu, Zhishi, Dahe, Guanyuan and Mingmen points, it can treat impotence and spermatorrhea (kidney qi deficiency type); combined with Bladdershu, Shenshu, Ciliao, Yinlingquan and Li Gou points, it can treat impotence, spermatorrhea, urinary retention, stranguria, vaginal itching, eczema and leucorrhea (damp heat invading the lower body); combined with Zhongji, Guanyuan and Shenshu points, it can treat kidney deficiency, enuresis and dysuria; combined with Guanyuan, Mingmen and Yinjiao points (acupuncture or moxibustion), it can treat uterine cold infertility and dysmenorrhea.

5. Shenshu

[Standard location] On the waist, below the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra, 1.5 inches away from the Mingmen on both sides.

[Main diseases treated] 1. Diseases of the urinary and reproductive system: nephritis, renal colic, enuresis, urinary tract infection, impotence, premature ejaculation, spermatorrhea, and lack of semen; 2. Diseases of the surgical system: renal ptosis, bladder muscle paralysis and spasm, gastric bleeding, intestinal bleeding, hemorrhoids, and hepatomegaly; 3. Others: irregular menstruation, low back pain, asthma, deafness, anemia, intercostal neuralgia, and sequelae of cerebrovascular disease, etc.

[Moxibustion acupoints] For deficiency of Qi and blood, use Zusanli and Geshu; for deficiency of kidney, use Mingmen, Yaoyangguan and Guanyuanshu (refer to Figure 3); for vaginal bleeding, use Yinbai; for dizziness and tinnitus, use Baihui.

[Moxibustion Method] Perform gentle moxibustion, moxibustion each acupoint for 15-20 minutes, once a day, 10 times a course of treatment, with 2-3 days in between.

[Precautions] Gentle moxibustion with moxa sticks is effective for treating early habitual abortion within 3 months of pregnancy, but it is less effective for habitual abortion over 5 months of pregnancy. Moxibustion treatment should be started when the pregnancy test is positive, and the effect is better in the early stage. If you insist on moxibustion for about 3 months, the effect will be better if you can use Chinese medicine to assist in preserving the pregnancy.
