Causes of Spontaneous Abortion

Causes of Spontaneous Abortion

The incidence of spontaneous abortion is now relatively high, causing trouble for many families. If women do not pay attention to all aspects in the early stages of pregnancy, there is a risk of spontaneous abortion, which will cause great physical and psychological harm to female friends. So, what are the causes of spontaneous abortion? The following editor will analyze it for you from four aspects.

Genetic factors

Genetic abnormality is the most common cause of spontaneous abortion. Chromosome abnormalities account for 50% to 60% of early abortions. Chromosome abnormalities can be divided into numerical abnormalities and structural abnormalities. Chromosome numerical abnormalities include polyploidy, trisomy, and monosomy; structural abnormalities include chromosome breakage, deletion, and translocation. Most embryos with chromosomal abnormalities will have abortions. The causes of chromosomal abnormalities include inheritance from parents and the influence of acquired environmental factors. Women who have had abortions should have a chromosome test with their husbands to find out if there are any problems. If there are any problems with the test, it is advisable to consult a doctor about whether they can get pregnant again and related matters.

Environmental factors

Environmental factors that can cause spontaneous abortion include physical, chemical and biological factors, such as radioactive substances, heavy metals, DDT, pesticides and TORCH infection (rubella virus, herpes virus, cytomegalovirus and toxoplasmosis, etc.). If there is adverse environmental contact before and after pregnancy, spontaneous abortion may occur.

Maternal factors

Pregnant women with certain diseases, such as acute infectious diseases, can cause fetal death or miscarriage; corpus luteum insufficiency, hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, and diabetes can affect the development of the decidua, placenta, and fetus and cause miscarriage. If this is the case, the primary disease should be actively treated, or medication should be used during pregnancy to control the disease and stabilize it to prevent miscarriage.

Immune factors

After pregnancy, due to the maternal and fetal immune incompatibility, the mother rejects the fetus and even miscarries. Commonly examined clinically are blood type antibodies, anti-cardiolipin antibodies, anti-ovarian antibodies, anti-endometrial antibodies, anti-sperm antibodies, etc. If such immune factors exist, treatment should be targeted at the cause. After the immune factors are eliminated, pregnancy can be resumed.

The above is an introduction to the causes of spontaneous abortion. I hope it will be helpful to you.
