What are the common causes of pelvic peritonitis?

Pelvic inflammatory disease is a common gynecological disease. Pelvic inflammatory disease refers to inflammation of the female upper reproductive tract and its surrounding tissues, among which pelvic peritonitis is the most typical. So what are the causes of pelvic peritonitis? Why do many women suffer from pelvic peritonitis? Let me introduce them to you one by one.

Reason 1: Poor menstrual hygiene among women.

Using unclean menstrual pads and having sexual intercourse during menstruation can allow pathogens to invade and cause inflammation.

Reason 2: Infection after delivery or abortion.

After delivery, the mother is weak and the cervix is not completely closed. For example, if the birth canal is damaged or there are residual placenta or fetal membranes during delivery, pathogens invade the uterine cavity and easily cause infection. If vaginal bleeding lasts too long during abortion, or there is tissue remaining in the uterine cavity, or the surgical aseptic operation is not strict, acute pelvic peritonitis may occur.

Reason three: infection with sexually transmitted diseases.

People with unclean sexual life history, early sexual intercourse, multiple sexual partners, and excessive sexual intercourse may be invaded by pathogens of sexually transmitted diseases and cause pelvic peritonitis. Common pathogens are Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, or combined aerobic and anaerobic infections.

Reason 4: Infection during surgery.

Some surgeries are prone to upper pelvic peritonitis, such as curettage, hydrotubation, hysterosalpingography, hysteroscopy, etc., due to infection caused by lax surgical disinfection or improper selection of preoperative indications, such as chronic inflammation of the genitals, which may cause acute attacks and spread due to surgical interference.

The above are the main causes of pelvic peritonitis. Please be reminded that if you find symptoms of pelvic peritonitis, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time to avoid missing the important treatment period and causing further damage to your body.
