Why does pelvic peritonitis take so long to heal?

Why does pelvic peritonitis take so long to heal?

In fact, our bodies generally have a certain ability to resist bacteria, but when these defense capabilities are destroyed, there is no way to resist the invasion of bacteria. Pelvic peritonitis is a relatively common gynecological disease. Due to some bad living habits, bacterial infections are caused. The diseases caused bring great troubles to our work and life. Let’s take a look at the specific causes of pelvic peritonitis, so that we can take precautions in advance and reduce the occurrence of the disease.

1. Postpartum or post-abortion infection: The patient is weak after childbirth or miscarriage, and the cervix has not been well closed after dilation. At this time, the bacteria in the vagina and cervix may ascend to infect the pelvic cavity; if there is still placenta and fetal membranes in the uterine cavity, the chance of infection is greater. During artificial abortion, ring placement or removal, fallopian tube insufflation, salpingography, endometrial polyp removal, or submucosal uterine myoma removal, if the disinfection is not strict or there is chronic inflammation of the original reproductive system, it may cause postoperative infection. Some patients do not pay attention to personal hygiene after surgery, or do not follow the doctor's advice after surgery and have sexual intercourse, which can also cause bacterial infection and cause pelvic peritonitis.

Second, the recurrence rate of patients with a history of pelvic peritonitis is 20 times that of those without such a history. Patients with PID may have another attack. Rather than considering this as an acute attack of "chronic" inflammation, it is better to consider it as a reinfection. The reason why it is easy to be reinfected is that the fallopian tube epithelium has been damaged, which is more sensitive to pathogens, and the local defense mechanism is impaired. The lack of treatment of sexual partners is an important infection factor.

3. Sexual life and the number of sexual partners Sexual life and pelvic peritonitis are closely related, except for IUD and intrauterine operation. In addition, primary infection of pelvic peritonitis is mostly caused by sexual activity or sexual exposure. The role of sperm in carrying bacteria should be considered. Homosexuality does not cause pelvic peritonitis. Infection has little to do with the frequency of sexual life, but it is related to the number of sexual partners. The incidence rate of women with multiple sexual partners is 5 times that of those without such a relationship.

4. Untreated sexual partners. Male partners who carry gonococci, Chlamydia trachomatis, or other pathogens are an important source of infection and recurrence for women. The sexual partners of women with pelvic peritonitis are untreated. Their lack of symptoms does not mean that they do not have infections such as gonococci.

5. Intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) Generally, the risk of disease is 2 to 4 times higher for IUD users than for non-users. However, the risk can be as high as 15 times. Of course, it is also related to the type of contraceptive device. For example, contraceptive rings with tails are more likely to cause pelvic peritonitis. The moist surface of the tail thread is the "strut" for bacteria to move upward. Infections caused by IUDs are often non-gonococcal pathogens.

Now everyone knows what causes pelvic peritonitis, so we know how to do the relevant preventive work in daily life. We should pay attention to developing good eating habits in our daily life. A regular and reasonable diet can not only prevent diseases, but also enhance immunity. We should also pay attention to drinking more water. If female friends have the above symptoms, they should check and treat as soon as possible to avoid the harm of pelvic peritonitis.
