Does it mean that I can't get pregnant if I have Bartholinitis?

Does Bartholinitis affect pregnancy? Bartholinitis is caused by infection of the Bartholin glands. The Bartholin glands are located 1/3 deep below the labia majora on both sides, and the gland opening is located on the inner side of the labia minora close to the hymen. The main function is to secrete mucus under the stimulation of sexual intercourse to lubricate the vagina. The Bartholin glands are easily invaded by bacteria and cause infection.

Does Bartholin's glands affect pregnancy? Bartholin's glands are a pair of glands at the vaginal opening. Their function is to secrete lubricating fluid to increase the lubrication of the penis when it is thrusting in the vagina. They have nothing to do with pregnancy. As for whether they have an impact on childbirth, it depends on whether they are inflamed at the time.

Bartholin's gland inflammation is more common in women of childbearing age, and rarely occurs in infants and after menopause. Due to the anatomical characteristics, pathogens can easily invade and cause Bartholin's gland inflammation when the vulva is contaminated during sexual intercourse, childbirth, and other situations. When the Bartholin's gland is infected, the gland duct is often affected first. The gland duct opening is blocked by inflammation, congestion, and edema, and the secretions and exudates are not easily discharged, which can form a Bartholin's gland abscess. If the abscess is not treated in time, it may occasionally spread to the posterior direction, forming a perirectal abscess, and sometimes even rupture into the rectum. After the abscess is incised and drained, most of the abscess cavities can be closed and healed, but fistulas may occasionally form, with a small amount of secretions constantly discharged. A small and hard nodule can be felt during palpation, with slight tenderness, and pus can sometimes flow out of the fistula when squeezed. Sometimes the fistula closes or narrows by itself, and pus can accumulate and form an abscess again, which may also recur and not heal for a long time.
