What are the common causes of adnexitis?

Among the female internal reproductive organs, the fallopian tubes and ovaries are called uterine appendages, and inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries is called adnexitis. The common causes of adnexitis are as follows.

1. Gynecological surgical infection

Some common gynecological surgeries such as aspiration uterus, hysterosalpingography, cervical canal treatment surgery, etc., if the uterine cavity is operated without strict disinfection, may cause pelvic adnex infection or other gynecological diseases.

2. Spread of inflammation

Long-term appendicitis may cause adnexitis, because bacteria can spread directly with the ruptured pus and cause salpingo-oophoritis, pelvic peritonitis, etc. In addition, more serious enteritis can spread through lymphatic vessels and also cause adnexitis.

3. Intrauterine device?

The placement of an intrauterine contraceptive device itself does not directly cause adnexitis. However, if the aseptic operation specifications are not strictly followed when placing the device or if personal hygiene is not maintained after placement, it may cause adnexitis.

4. Long-term sitting

Sitting for a long time and not exercising regularly will make blood circulation poor, resulting in obstruction of pelvic venous return and affecting the normal detoxification function of the uterine appendages. If organic lesions of pelvic organs occur at the same time, inflammation is likely to occur.
