Local treatment methods for vulvar leukoplakia

Local treatment methods for vulvar leukoplakia

The cause of vulvar leukoplakia is still unclear. It may be related to certain systemic factors, such as diabetes, endocrine disorders, malnutrition, vitamin deficiency, etc. 4% to 6% of vulvar leukoplakia patients may develop cancer, and the vast majority of patients have benign non-precancerous lesions. Appropriate treatment of vulvar leukoplakia patients can prevent the condition of most patients from further deterioration.

Local treatment methods can have a certain therapeutic effect. While performing local treatment, you should also actively treat associated diseases, control blood sugar, correct endocrine disorders and malnutrition, and supplement vitamins.

Local treatment methods for vulvar leukoplakia

Patients should keep the vulva clean and dry, and avoid excessive scrubbing with soap. Chinese medicine that clears away heat, detoxifies, and dries dampness can be used for external washing. When itching is obvious, corticosteroids such as hydrocortisone ointment and hydrocortisone butyrate cream can be applied topically. When itching is particularly severe, halometasone cream or ointment and clobetasol cream or ointment can be applied topically. Keratotic hyperplastic lesions can be treated with topical 0.025% to 0.05% retinoic acid ointment or 2.5% fluorouracil ointment. It can block the conversion of uracil deoxynucleoside to thymine deoxynucleoside, inhibit DNA synthesis, and prevent the proliferation, division, and differentiation of tumor cells. Therefore, fluorouracil ointment is applied topically to treat precancerous lesions and malignant lesions of the skin.
