Artificial abortion is very harmful to women. Some complications may occur after the operation, such as arthralgia, which is mostly caused by the patient's weakness after the operation, insufficient qi and blood, lack of conditioning, and exposure to wind, cold, dampness, and heat. It can be divided into wind-cold arthralgia syndrome, wind-rheumatic arthralgia syndrome, damp-heat arthralgia syndrome, and qi and blood deficiency syndrome. Among them, the treatment and medication of wind-rheumatic arthralgia syndrome are as follows:

Dampness is a yin evil with sticky nature, which can easily block the circulation of qi, blood and body fluids. Therefore, patients may experience heaviness, swelling and localized pain in the joints of the limbs; or swollen joints with difficulty in flexion and extension. The symptoms may worsen in cold weather and the skin may become numb; or patients may experience heaviness of the limbs, slight edema, abdominal distension, poor appetite, difficulty urinating, and sticky and uncomfortable stools; the tongue coating may be white and greasy, and the pulse may be soft and slow.

The treatment should dispel wind and dampness, dredge meridians and relieve pain. The prescription can be modified from Coix Seed Decoction, which includes: Coix seed, Angelica, Peony, Ephedra, Cinnamon, Licorice, Atractylodes; or according to the patient's symptoms and signs, use the following drugs as appropriate: Astragalus, Angelica, Caulis Sinomenii, Millettia reticulata, Caulis Piperis, Caulis Trachelospermi, Cassia twig, Notopterygium, Angelica dahurica, Atractylodes, Coix seeds, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Gentiana macrophylla, White peony root, Licorice, etc. If the patient has heavy swelling, add Stephania tetrandra and silkworm sand; if numbness is more severe, add Pittosporum tobira bark and Siegesbeckia herb; if the patient has fullness and stuffiness and loss of appetite, add charred hawthorn and Amomum villosum, etc.
