Pathogenesis of Haemophilus vaginitis

Pathogenesis of Haemophilus vaginitis

Haemophilus vaginitis is caused by the destruction of the weakly acidic environment of the vagina, which causes excessive reproduction of Haemophilus bacteria, which is 100 to 1,000 times more than lactic acid bacteria, resulting in symptoms of vaginal inflammation. The pathogenesis of Haemophilus vaginitis is:

The weakly acidic environment of the vagina is destroyed

Under the action of endocrine hormones, vaginal epithelial cells of normal women of childbearing age proliferate, and the surface cells contain rich glycogen, which is very conducive to the growth of facultative lactobacilli, which account for more than 90% of the vagina. The presence of a large number of lactobacilli inhibits the growth of other pathogenic bacteria and forms a normal ecological balance in the vagina.

When the estrogen level in the human body decreases, the vaginal epithelium atrophies and the cell glycogen decreases, which is not conducive to the growth of lactobacilli. The large-scale use of antibiotics or excessive vaginal flushing with alkaline liquids inhibits the growth of lactobacilli. Frequent sexual intercourse (because the pH of semen is 7.2-7.8) leads to the proliferation of pathogenic anaerobic bacteria and Gardnerella, causing the imbalance of the vaginal microbial ecological balance. The reduction of facultative aerobic lactobacilli eventually leads to bacterial vaginosis.

Pathogen invasion

The decarboxylase produced by anaerobic bacteria can stimulate vaginal Haemophilus to produce certain amino acids, produce volatile amines, and release an unpleasant fishy odor. Amines increase the pH value and inhibit the reproduction of lactobacilli. The vaginal epidermal cells with bacteria attached fall off, increasing vaginal secretions, thus leading to Haemophilus vaginitis.

Women are infected with Haemophilus influenzae from the outside world mainly through contact with infected public toilets, bathtubs, bathtub seats, towels, and the use of unclean toilet paper, which can cause infection.
