What are the symptoms of pseudocervical erosion?

What are the symptoms of pseudocervical erosion?

Cervical erosion is not an independent disease, but a manifestation of chronic cervicitis. It can be divided into many types, such as true erosion, pseudoerosion, congenital erosion, acquired erosion, etc. Among them, pseudoerosion is more common, and the cervical erosion mentioned in daily life mostly belongs to this type.

Erosion refers to superficial necrotic defects confined to the mucosal surface, and cervical erosion, which is often referred to clinically, refers to the red area of the external cervical os. The reason for its formation is that the epidermis of the external cervical os falls off and is replaced by another type of epithelial cells at the cervical os. Because the new epithelium covering the surface is very thin, even the blood vessels and red tissue below can be seen, which looks like real erosion, hence the name. After applying 3% acetic acid here during colposcopy, it can be seen that the red area has a local grape-like change, which is caused by columnar epithelial edema. If a biopsy is performed on this area, the surface can be seen covered with columnar epithelium under a microscope. It can be seen that the cervical erosion mentioned in daily life is not a real erosion, so some people suggest calling it pseudo-erosion.

Pseudocervical erosion is mainly caused by multiple artificial abortions, excessive cleaning, premature sexual life, too many sexual partners, unclean sexual life, etc. Therefore, female friends should pay more attention to it. Since pseudocervical erosion is not a true pathological change of the cervix, no special treatment is required, but the related inducements that cause pseudoerosion must be eliminated to avoid it from turning into true erosion.
