Basal body temperature examination can assist in the diagnosis of functional uterine bleeding and reflect the patient's ovulation function. For example, in patients with anovulatory dysregulated uterine bleeding, the basal body temperature is monophasic. In addition, the duration of the basal body temperature rise, the temperature level, and the way it falls can reflect the functional state of the corpus luteum, which can be used to diagnose menstrual disorders and observe the efficacy of drugs. In addition, routine measurement of basal body temperature can be used to understand the ovarian function, the presence or absence of ovulation, and the corpus luteum function, so as to check the cause of infertility . Basal body temperature is the body temperature at rest. The basal body temperature of women of childbearing age with normal ovarian function shows characteristic changes. The basal body temperature is relatively low after menstruation and in the follicular phase. After ovulation, the body temperature rises by 0.3~0.5℃, which lasts until 1~2 days before menstruation or the first day of menstruation, and then drops to the original level. The rise in body temperature after ovulation is due to the formation of the corpus luteum after ovulation in the ovary. The progesterone produced acts on the hypothalamic temperature regulation center, which has a pyrogenic effect and raises the body temperature. Connecting the basal body temperature measured every day during the menstrual cycle into a line will form a biphasic curve; if there is no ovulation, the basal body temperature will not rise and will show a monophasic curve. For normal ovulating women, the temperature rise should last for 12~14 days. If it is shorter than 11 days, it indicates that the corpus luteum is not well developed. The specific measurement method is: before going to bed every night, shake the mercury column of the thermometer to below 36°C, and put it where you can reach it. After waking up the next morning, do not talk, do not get up, do not move, and immediately put the thermometer under the tongue to measure the oral temperature for 5 minutes. It is best to fix the daily measurement time. Night shift workers should measure their body temperature according to the above method after 6 to 8 hours of sleep. Record the daily measured body temperature on the basal body temperature sheet and finally draw a curve. In addition, relevant factors in life such as sexual life, menstrual period, insomnia, colds, etc. that may affect body temperature and the treatment used should be recorded on the basal body temperature sheet at any time for reference. Generally, it is necessary to measure continuously for at least 3 menstrual cycles. |
