What are the symptoms of female vulvar leukoplakia?

What are the symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia? Vulvar leukoplakia is a common gynecological disease, and its clinical symptoms also have different manifestations. So, what are the obvious symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia ? Let the experts give you a detailed introduction to the symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia.

The diagnosis of vulvar leukoplakia has the following symptoms:

1. Symptoms of hyperplastic vulvar leukoplakia:

Stage I hyperplastic type: The main symptom of vulvar leukoplakia is vulvar itching. Some patients have severe itching, which worsens at night. Scratching often causes redness, swelling and ulceration. Symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia may include discomfort such as burning.

Stage II hyperplastic type: Based on the symptoms of stage I, keratinization and hyperplasia appear in the skin of the vulvar leukoplakia lesion area, and mild hypopigmentation appears locally on the vulvar skin (usually appears on the inner side of the labia majora and minora), in the form of dots or small white papules. The surface of the vulvar leukoplakia presents a frosty white discoloration.

Stage III hyperplastic type: severe hyperplasia of skin keratinization, repeated shedding of the keratin layer, or scratching causing vulvar irritation, edema, fissures, ulceration and erosion. Symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia may include itching accompanied by pain. Patients feel that the symptoms are severe, but the treatment effect of this type of patients is rapid. Within one course of treatment, the symptoms of about 85% of patients are basically eliminated.

2. Symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia:

Stage I atrophic type: The symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia are not obvious. Some patients have mild itching. No white lesions appear, and the vulva has atrophy that is not easily detected by the naked eye.

Stage II atrophic type: Typical symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia are mild visible atrophy of the vulva, usually starting from the labia majora, minora, and clitoris. The labia majora and minora have reduced elasticity, and the surface wrinkles of the vulvar leukoplakia are reduced or absent. Vulvar pruritus is relatively mild. Due to atrophy, there may be dryness of the vulva and discomfort during sexual intercourse. Localized hypopigmentation of the vulvar skin occurs in multiple spots or flakes.

Stage III atrophic type: The symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia are severe. The labia majora of the vulva are flat, the labia minora disappear, and the clitoris shrinks and becomes smaller or adheres. The urethral opening shrinks. Symptoms of severe vulvar leukoplakia include urinary incontinence, vaginal opening shrinkage, and difficulty in sexual life. Some patients also have anal leukoplakia and atrophy, causing the skin around the anus to have no wrinkles and reduced elasticity, causing anal fissures during defecation.

3. Symptoms of mixed vulvar leukoplakia: When the disease of patients with proliferative and atrophic types of vulvar leukoplakia progresses to the late stage II to stage III, the symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia will generally show a mixture of two types of symptoms.
