Abnormal vaginal discharge caused by tuberculosis

Abnormal vaginal discharge caused by tuberculosis

Pulmonary tuberculosis may cause abnormal leucorrhea because the tuberculosis infection may spread to the reproductive system, causing pelvic tuberculosis or fallopian tube tuberculosis, which in turn affects the characteristics of leucorrhea.

Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that primarily affects the lungs, but can also spread to other organs, including the reproductive system, through the blood or lymphatic system. When tuberculosis bacteria infect the reproductive organs, it can cause pelvic tuberculosis or fallopian tube tuberculosis, leading to abnormal vaginal discharge. Symptoms of abnormal vaginal discharge may include increased volume, color changes (such as yellow or green), thickening of the texture, or an odor. This condition is often accompanied by other symptoms, such as pelvic pain, irregular menstruation, or painful intercourse.

If you suspect that tuberculosis is causing abnormal vaginal discharge, you should seek medical attention for a detailed examination. Your doctor may recommend a tuberculin test, a chest X-ray or CT scan, and imaging studies of the reproductive system, such as a pelvic ultrasound or MRI. In terms of treatment, anti-tuberculosis drugs are the main means. Commonly used drugs include isoniazid, rifampicin, and ethambutol, which usually need to be taken for more than 6 months. For reproductive system tuberculosis, surgical treatment may be required, such as a salpingectomy or pelvic adhesion lysis.

In daily life, patients should pay attention to personal hygiene and avoid cross infection. In terms of diet, they should eat more foods rich in protein and vitamins, such as eggs, milk, fresh vegetables and fruits, to enhance immunity. Avoid overwork, maintain a regular work and rest schedule, and do some light exercise, such as walking or yoga, to help the body recover. Regular follow-up and adjusting the treatment plan according to the doctor's advice are the key to ensuring the treatment effect.
