3 treatments for endometriosis

There are 3 treatments for endometriosis:

Before treating endometriosis, the diagnosis should be as clear as possible, taking into account the patient's age, fertility requirements, severity of the disease, symptoms and extent of the lesions.

The general treatment methods of Western medicine are as follows:

1. Drug treatment

That is to say, hormone therapy stimulates hormone secretion in the body through pharmacology. Since ectopic endometrium responds to ovarian endocrine, sex hormone therapy has become an important treatment for this disease. Sex hormone therapy mainly inhibits ovulation or causes amenorrhea, causing ectopic endometrium to degenerate, then necrotize and absorb. After sex hormone therapy, about 85% of patients' symptoms can be relieved, and some patients become pregnant after treatment.

2. Surgical treatment

Radical surgery will remove the ovaries and uterus on both sides, which is extremely cruel for young and nulliparous women. Complications and sequelae will bring certain pain to the patient's body and mind, and menopausal syndrome will occur after surgery. Conservative surgery will locally excise, peel and remove the lesion. However, due to the severe adhesion of the disease, the surgery is often not thorough. If the ectopic lesion is ectopic to the sacroiliac ligament and invades the rectum, the recurrence rate is high.

3. Radiation therapy

The role of radiotherapy for endometriosis is to destroy ovarian tissue, eliminate the influence of ovarian hormones, and shrink the ectopic endometrium to achieve the purpose of treatment. The damage of radiation to ectopic endometrium is not obvious, but for extensive lesions of the intestine, urinary tract, and pelvic adhesions, especially those with serious diseases such as heart, lung or kidney, I am very afraid of surgery for individual patients. External radiotherapy can also be used to destroy ovarian function and achieve the purpose of treatment. Even if an individual receives radiotherapy, a clear diagnosis must be made first, especially malignant ovarian tumors must not be misdiagnosed as endometrial cysts, or even delay correct treatment.
