How do patients with different symptoms of acute and chronic cervicitis take care of themselves?

Symptoms of acute and chronic cervicitis:

1. Acute cervicitis

Increased vaginal discharge is the most common symptom of acute cervicitis, and sometimes even the only cervicitis, which is usually purulent. Since cervicitis often coexists with urethritis, cystitis or acute vaginitis, acute endometritis, it often masks other symptoms of cervicitis, such as varying degrees of lower abdominal and lumbosacral pain, frequent urination, urgency, pain, and other bladder irritation symptoms.

In acute gonococcal cervicitis, there will be varying degrees of fever and leukocytosis.

2. Chronic cervicitis

The main symptom of chronic cervicitis is increased leucorrhea. Leucorrhea is milky white and mucous, sometimes yellow or pus-like. When polyps are formed, bloody leucorrhea or bleeding after sexual intercourse may occur, and in severe cases, contact bleeding may occur.

Mild patients have no systemic symptoms. When the inflammation spreads to the pelvic cavity, lumbar pain, lower abdominal swelling and dysmenorrhea may occur. These symptoms of cervicitis will worsen before and after menstruation, defecation and sexual intercourse. Sometimes accompanied by frequent urination, dysuria, irregular menstruation, infertility, etc.

Self-care for patients with cervicitis

1. Lifestyle

Develop good living habits, pay attention to rest, and avoid overwork. This is one of the self-care methods for cervicitis.

2. Taboos during menstruation

During menstruation, cervical drug treatment should be suspended, and sexual intercourse is prohibited during the care of cervicitis. Because after the treatment of cervicitis, a layer of inflammatory scabs will fall off on the surface, and new tissue will grow slowly. During the process of tissue repair, sexual intercourse will cause the new cervical wound to wear and even bleed, affecting the efficacy.

3. Others

After the treatment of cervicitis, the vagina will discharge more iron blood or yellow watery secretions. You can use cotton sanitary pads during the day, and you need to replace new pads frequently. Wash the vulva with clean water in the morning and evening. These are all things that need to be paid attention to during the care of cervicitis.
