Can I have an IUD inserted if I have pelvic effusion?

There are many reasons for pelvic effusion, including the patient's bad hygiene habits, such as having sex during menstruation or within one month after childbirth, taking a bath within one month after gynecological surgery, etc. Medical infection caused by improper disinfection during artificial abortion and induced labor can also cause pelvic effusion. So can an IUD be inserted if there is pelvic effusion?

Generally, an IUD cannot be inserted if there is pelvic effusion, because it will make the pelvic effusion worse. So let's first understand what pelvic effusion is?

Pelvic effusion is the presence of inflammatory exudate in the pelvic cavity, which can occur pathologically after pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis or endometriosis. Pelvic effusion can be divided into physiological pelvic effusion and pathological pelvic effusion according to pathological factors.

Physiological pelvic effusion is not a bad thing for women, but pathological pelvic effusion is more harmful. Once a woman suffers from this type of effusion, she should go to the hospital for treatment in time and receive symptomatic treatment. Pathological pelvic effusion is clinically caused by inflammation in most women. It is the presence of inflammatory exudate in the pelvis. If it is not treated, it can grow slowly. If it is too large, it is not easy to eliminate it with drugs, and surgical treatment is required. Pathological gynecological pelvic effusion is mostly caused by pelvic inflammatory adnexitis or endometriosis. The causes of pelvic inflammatory adnexitis are mostly related to the patient's bad hygiene habits, such as having sex during menstruation or within one month after delivery, and taking a bath within one month after gynecological surgery. Medical-induced infection caused by improper disinfection of artificial abortion and induced labor can also cause pelvic effusion. If there are chronic infection lesions, it may be caused by inflammation in the pelvic cavity of the gynecological system such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes, causing pelvic effusion, or it may be caused by tuberculosis or tumors. There are also a few caused by ruptured ectopic pregnancy, ruptured corpus luteum, pelvic abscess, chocolate cyst, and ovarian cancer. Pelvic effusion is rarely caused by tuberculosis.
