In order to lose weight, companies also need to carry out obesity prevention and treatment. A technology company in Taipei encourages its employees to climb more stairs. It uses card readers to let employees swipe their cards to record their daily stair climbing status, and then conducts a "stair climbing evaluation" for each department. Since the implementation of the program three months ago, a total of 83,128 floors have been climbed, equivalent to 975 Taipei 101 buildings, and a total weight loss of 205 kilograms. This technology company, which actively promotes a healthy workplace, analyzed the health checkup data of all its employees for 100 years and found that the index related to metabolic syndrome was abnormally high. It is obvious that the long-term busy sitting in the office has caused warning signs for the employees' health. To this end, we have actively implemented the weight loss plan in each department by having senior executives jointly sign a weight loss declaration. The "Smart Card Swipe Stair Climbing Competition" is one of the activities to encourage employees to climb stairs more and take the elevator less. Because the technology company has smart card readers at the staircases on each floor, employees can swipe the card and record it once every time they climb a floor by simply using the induction card on their personal identification card. Then use the computer to count the number of people and floors climbed by each department. From May to August 2012, it was found that employees from various departments climbed a total of 83,128 floors, equivalent to 975 Taipei 101 buildings, and lost a total of 205 kilograms in weight. In addition, in order to help employees develop smart eating and happy exercise skills, the company, through the guidance of nutritionists, uses red, yellow and green to differentiate the calorie content of various meals in the employee cafeteria, and designs a 650-calorie meal recommendation. It also provides light and low-calorie meals and holds health and nutrition lectures to promote healthy eating among employees. There are also regular health exercises every day and mountain climbing activities for employees on holidays, all with the goal of helping employees have healthier bodies. Lin Liru, director of the Health Management Division of the Taipei City Health Bureau, pointed out that as of October 4, 213 workplaces in Taipei City, totaling 62,301 people, had signed up for the "Taipei City Healthy Weight Management Activity," and the weight loss effect had reached 47,735 kilograms. Companies that carry out obesity prevention and treatment can not only prevent the occurrence of obesity-related diseases, but also improve the health of employees. Through health promotion programs, employees can exercise more and eat healthily in the workplace, helping them lose weight healthily and thus increase their health in the workplace. |
