Causes of uterine fibroids

Causes of uterine fibroids

The cause of uterine fibroids is currently unclear, as uterine fibroids often occur during the reproductive period, are rare before puberty, and shrink or regress after menopause, suggesting that the occurrence of uterine fibroids may be related to female hormone levels. In addition, molecular biological studies have suggested that uterine fibroids are formed by the proliferation of monoclonal smooth muscle cells, and multiple uterine fibroids are formed by the proliferation of different clones of smooth muscle cells.

What are the symptoms of uterine fibroids?

Common symptoms of uterine fibroids include: increased menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual period, and shortened menstrual cycle. If the menstrual flow is too heavy, it can cause anemia symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, palpitations, and chest tightness. If the fibroids are located in front of or behind the cervix, rectal bladder compression symptoms may occur. If the uterine fibroids undergo red degeneration during pregnancy, or the pedicle of the subserosal uterine fibroids is twisted, symptoms such as lower abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever may occur. If the submucosal uterine fibroids prolapse from the cervical opening, purulent and bloody secretions may flow out of the vagina.

Can cupping be used to treat uterine fibroids?

Cupping cannot treat uterine fibroids. Cupping is a therapy that uses fire and vacuum to generate negative pressure, so that it is adsorbed on the body surface, causing local blood stasis, in order to achieve the effects of dredging meridians, promoting qi and blood circulation, reducing swelling and relieving pain, and expelling wind and cold. Cupping therapy has a long history in China, as early as the Western Han Dynasty. It is recorded that his method has been widely used, mainly for some neck and shoulder discomfort, or some health care. Uterine fibroids are caused by abnormally high levels of estrogen in the body, which stimulate the uterus. Cupping cannot achieve this endocrine regulation effect, so uterine fibroids cannot be treated with cupping.
