Are ovarian cysts serious? What are the consequences?

Ovarian cysts are a common gynecological disease. In recent years, more and more women have suffered from this disease. This disease not only threatens women's health, but also causes miscarriage and infertility. It has a serious impact on the whole family, so female friends must pay attention to ovarian cysts.

1. Ovarian cancer: The ovaries are small in size, but the incidence of tumors is high. Since the ovaries are located in the pelvic cavity, there are no symptoms in the early stage, and there is a lack of early diagnosis and identification methods. Once diagnosed as malignant, it is often in the late stage. Enlarged cysts are prone to infection, twisting, bleeding or bursting, posing a threat to the patient's life. The survival rate of ovarian cancer is the lowest.

2. Tumor pedicle torsion: The tumor pedicle is long and ranges from the size of a fist to the size of a fetal head. About 10% of ovarian tumors torsion occurs. Cystic teratomas, mucinous and serous cystadenomas are most likely to have pedicle torsion. It may rupture during turning over or intestinal peristalsis.

3. Rupture and perforation: Spontaneous cyst rupture has a high incidence rate. Cysts rupture or squeeze, and viral fluid flows into the patient's abdominal cavity. Malignant teratomas are most likely to rupture. Due to rapid growth, the local blood supply to the cyst wall is insufficient, and the cyst fluid ruptures from the weak part of the cyst wall and overflows into the abdominal cavity, which can cause peritonitis, intestinal adhesions, and even intestinal obstruction, which is life-threatening.

4. Cause infertility: The cyst becomes larger or degenerates, making it impossible for sperm and eggs to work normally, affecting fertility and leading to infertility.

5. Edema of the limbs: In addition to loss of appetite, weight loss and abdominal distension, it can also cause vomiting, fever and abdominal pain, and even cause edema of the abdomen and limbs in the later stages.
