Diagnosis of pelvic inflammatory disease

Diagnosis of pelvic inflammatory disease

Acute pelvic inflammatory disease

There is often a history of acute infection, manifested as lower abdominal pain, muscle tension, tenderness, rebound pain, accompanied by rapid heart rate, fever, and a large amount of purulent vaginal discharge. In severe cases, there may be high fever, headache, chills, loss of appetite, a large amount of yellow and leucorrhea, lower abdominal pain, tenderness, and back pain.

In case of peritonitis, nausea, abdominal distension, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. may occur. When an abscess is formed, a lower abdominal mass and local compression and irritation symptoms may occur. If the mass is located in the front, urination difficulties, frequent urination, and urinary pain may occur. If the mass is located in the back, it may cause diarrhea, heaviness, and difficulty in defecation.

Diagnostic points: Acute pelvic inflammatory disease often has three main symptoms: chills, fever, abdominal pain or back pain. If there is an abscess, there may be a lower abdominal mass, often accompanied by frequent urination, urgency, and diarrhea. The vagina may be congested and have a large amount of purulent secretions.

Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease

Systemic symptoms include low-grade fever and fatigue. Some patients experience neurasthenia symptoms such as insomnia, depression, and general discomfort. Lower abdominal swelling, pain, and lumbar pain usually worsen after fatigue, sexual intercourse, and before and after menstruation. Chronic inflammation can lead to pelvic congestion, menorrhagia, ovarian damage, menstrual disorders, and fallopian tube adhesions and blockages, which can lead to infertility.

Diagnostic points: Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease has irregular fever, sometimes just low fever. But fatigue, lower abdominal swelling, backache and other symptoms are more obvious, often aggravated before and after menstruation, sexual intercourse, and fatigue. If the fallopian tube is blocked by adhesion.
