The full medical name of cervical erosion is cervical columnar epithelium ectopia, which is a physiological phenomenon and generally has no signs or symptoms. There are two different forms of cells in the female cervical epithelium, namely squamous epithelial cells and columnar epithelial cells, which form squamous epithelial tissue and columnar epithelial tissue respectively. The former covers the surface of the cervix, and the latter covers the endocervical canal. During the female menstrual cycle, due to the influence of estrogen, the columnar epithelial tissue may move to the exit of the endocervical canal and cover the squamous epithelial tissue. Because it is thin and red, it looks like erosion. But this symptom is a physiological phenomenon of women, not true erosion. Cervical columnar epithelial ectopy may change or disappear with the menstrual cycle, and women usually have no signs, symptoms or signs. However, affected by individual differences, some women may experience contact bleeding at this stage, such as private bleeding after sex and defecation. As long as there are no other signs, there is no need to be overly nervous and observe regularly. If cervical columnar epithelium ectopia is found, and there are symptoms such as increased vaginal discharge, private odor or itching, and irregular vaginal bleeding, it may be related to cervical diseases such as vaginitis, cervicitis, and cervical cancer. Further screening is needed to identify the cause and treat the symptoms. In daily life, women are advised to strengthen personal care, such as paying attention to private cleaning, controlling the frequency of sexual life, and avoiding high-risk sexual behaviors. |
