What are the symptoms of pregnancy complicated with ovarian cysts and when is the best time for surgery?

Ovarian cysts are a common disease in women of childbearing age. If there are no complications, it is generally difficult to detect. If it is found in early pregnancy, then what are the symptoms of pregnancy with ovarian cysts? When is the best time to have surgery?

The most frustrating thing during pregnancy is to find that the cyst exists at the same time as the fetus. However, women of childbearing age are most likely to develop ovarian cysts. Pregnancy complicated with benign ovarian tumors are mostly mature teratomas and serous or mucinous cystadenomas, accounting for 90% of pregnancy complicated with ovarian tumors. Malignant ones are mostly dysgerminoma and serous cystadenocarcinoma.

If the tumor is embedded in the pelvic cavity during early pregnancy, it may cause miscarriage; in mid-pregnancy, it is easy to cause pedicle torsion; in late pregnancy, if the tumor is large, it may cause abnormal fetal position and tumor rupture during delivery; if the tumor is low, it may block the birth canal and cause dystocia. Pelvic congestion during pregnancy may also cause the tumor to grow rapidly and promote the spread of malignant tumors.

Generally speaking, if it is an early pregnancy with ovarian cysts, surgery can be performed after 3 months of pregnancy to avoid inducing miscarriage; if it is found in late pregnancy, it can be waited until full term. After clinical examination, if the tumor blocks the birth canal, cesarean section can be performed and the tumor can be removed at the same time. If ovarian malignant tumors are diagnosed or suspected, surgery should be performed as soon as possible.
