How to treat bacterial vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis can be treated with drugs such as metronidazole, clindamycin, tinidazole, vaginal lactobacillus preparations, etc. If symptoms persist or worsen, patients are advised to seek medical attention in a timely manner.

1. Metronidazole

Metronidazole is taken orally or topically, with the specific dosage and frequency of use depending on the doctor's instructions. Metronidazole can effectively inhibit the growth of anaerobic bacteria, has a strong antibacterial effect on Gram-positive and negative anaerobic cocci and bacilli, and can relieve the symptoms of bacterial vaginitis.

2. Clindamycin

Clindamycin is usually taken orally or by injection, and should be administered under the guidance of a physician. Clindamycin is primarily used to treat Gram-positive bacterial infections, and has a high degree of antibacterial efficacy against sensitive strains, which helps control bacterial vaginosis.

3. Tinidazole

Tinidazole can be given orally or intravenously and should be taken at prescribed intervals. Tinidazole is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial drug that effectively kills a wide range of anaerobic bacteria, including both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, thereby alleviating the discomfort caused by bacterial vaginosis.

4. Vaginal Lactobacillus preparations

Vaginal Lactobacillus preparations contain live Lactobacillus capsules, vaginal tablets or gels, and patients need to use them regularly as directed by their doctor. This preparation contains a specific number of healthy vaginal Lactobacillus, designed to restore the normal vaginal microecological environment, reduce the chance of overgrowth of harmful bacteria, and thus help improve bacterial vaginitis.

During treatment, patients are advised to maintain personal hygiene, change underwear frequently and use mild, non-irritating cleaning products. At the same time, patients should also be careful to avoid excessive cleaning of the vagina to avoid disrupting the normal balance of flora.
