What are the symptoms of cervicitis in women? How can women prevent cervicitis in their daily lives?

Many female physical diseases can be seen from leucorrhea. Normal leucorrhea is transparent and has no obvious odor. When leucorrhea increases, contains purulent material, has an odor and other abnormal phenomena, it is generally related to gynecological diseases, cervicitis being one of them.

Symptoms of cervicitis

1. Acute cervicitis: Acute cervicitis refers to an acute infection of the cervical mucosa and submucosal tissue from the external os of the cervix to the internal os of the cervix, which is mostly caused by pathogens such as gonococci, Staphylococci, Streptococci, Escherichia coli and anaerobic bacteria.

The main symptoms of acute cervicitis are increased, purulent, foul-smelling vaginal discharge, distension and discomfort in the lower abdomen, back pain, frequent urination, urgency, and pain during intercourse. If it is caused by gonococcal infection, the symptoms are more obvious, often with yellow purulent vaginal discharge, accompanied by acute urethritis, vaginitis, endometritis, and varying degrees of fever and leukocytosis.

2. Chronic cervicitis: Chronic cervicitis includes cervical erosion (divided into mild, moderate and severe categories), cervical hypertrophy, cervical polyps and endocervicitis. They are often distinguished by pathological processes. A diagnosis can be made by combining clinical manifestations and pathological types. Before treatment, a cervical cytology examination should be performed to exclude the possibility of cervical cancer. If necessary, a colposcopy and cervical biopsy pathological examination should be performed.

Chronic cervicitis is caused by chronic stimulation and childbirth, abortion and surgical injuries. Chronic cervicitis is a chronic pathological process with multiple causes. Long-term chronic stimulation and surgical injury are the main causes of chronic cervicitis. Childbirth, abortion, surgical injury and unclean sexual life can cause tiny cracks in the cervix, and these tiny injuries can become portals for pathogens to invade.

How to prevent cervicitis

1. Pay attention to personal hygiene.

Women should pay special attention to personal hygiene on weekdays, especially the hygiene of the vulva. They should insist on using clean water to wash the vulva and change underwear every day. During menstruation, the products they choose should be clean and uncontaminated.

2. Pay attention to sexual hygiene.

Both men and women should develop the habit of cleaning the vulva before and after sex. If the man carries an infection source during sex, it can also cause cervicitis in women. This is because sexual intercourse can bring various microorganisms, including gonococci and Chlamydia trachomatis, into the vagina, causing infection. In addition, semen attached to the vagina can increase the alkalinity of the vagina, making the environment in the vagina alkaline, increasing the number of pathogenic bacteria, and making it easy to get cervicitis.

3. Do a good job in family planning.

If you plan to get pregnant, you should prepare at least six months in advance to keep your body in the best condition. If you don't have any plans to get pregnant for the time being, you should take contraceptive measures to avoid accidental pregnancy and miscarriage. Abortion is extremely harmful to the uterus, because the curettage during the abortion operation will thin the endometrium, which can easily cause inflammation such as cervicitis and pelvic inflammatory disease. In severe cases, it can also block the fallopian tubes and cause infertility. Repeated artificial abortions in a short period of time will cause greater damage to the uterus, making women very likely to cause uterine damage and secondary infection.
