What will happen if I get pregnant with uterine fibroids? What are the symptoms of uterine fibroids?

Women need to do some examinations before getting pregnant to see if they have any diseases that are not suitable for pregnancy. So, what will happen if you get pregnant with uterine fibroids, and are there any symptoms?

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors in the female reproductive organs, also known as uterine leiomyoma, which are common in women aged 30-50 and rare in women under 20. The vast majority of uterine fibroids are benign. However, because uterine fibroids tend to occur frequently, in women of childbearing age, fibroids may gradually increase in size with age, and myomectomy surgery may also recur. The rate of malignant change (i.e., sarcoma change) of uterine fibroids is very low, about 0.4-0.8%. However, we still need to be vigilant about the risk of malignant change.

For patients with uterine fibroids, if the fibroids grow in a bad position, it will lead to infertility because the tumor occupies the implantation position of the fertilized egg. Even if it does not occupy the implantation position of the fertilized egg, it is easy to miscarry after pregnancy, which is also related to uterine abnormalities.

During pregnancy, the fibroids themselves can also change and cause pain. This pain is not life-threatening, but the patient needs to endure the pain and the panic caused by the pain. During delivery, the long position of the fibroids can affect the delivery of the fetus. At the same time, the fibroids themselves can also affect the contraction of the uterus, thereby prolonging the delivery process.

Another adverse symptom of uterine fibroids during pregnancy is abdominal pain and backache in pregnant women. The cause of abdominal pain may be threatened abortion or uterine contraction, but it is more likely that the uterine fibroids will increase accordingly with the growth of the pregnant uterus, leading to acute fibroid ischemia caused by compression of the posterior abdominal wall nerves by uterine posterior or lateral wall fibroids.
