Causes of Endometriosis

Causes of Endometriosis

When it comes to endometriosis, the first thing you should know is what the endometrium is. The endometrium is usually located in the uterine cavity, regulated by female progesterone, a cyclical growth and shedding, and also constitutes the monthly menstruation of women. At the same time, the endometrium is also the soil for the growth of female pregnant embryos. But when these endometrial tissues, including glands and stroma, appear outside the uterine cavity, the disease is called endometriosis, or endometriosis. Since endometriosis is a hormone-dependent disease, in the process of natural and artificial menopause, including some drug effects, radiation exposure, surgical removal of bilateral ovaries, etc., the focus of the disease will appear atrophy, absorption state. In addition, some pregnancy or sex hormone drugs that suppress ovarian function may temporarily prevent the further development of the disease. The incidence of the disease is 1% to 10%, and it has been on the rise in recent years. The disease is more common in women of childbearing age, its severity is often not related to age, and the symptoms and signs of the disease are not proportional to its severity.

The cause of endometriosis has not yet been determined, but there are the following theories: 1. Menstrual reflux theory: Violent menstruation causes menstrual blood to reflux into the peritoneum, forming endometriosis. Implantation theory: Although the endometrium is a benign disease, it has a malignant tendency and can be implanted in any part.

2. If the endometrium implants into the ovary, it will form an ovarian chocolate cyst. If it implants into the peritoneum, pelvic peritoneal endometriosis will occur. The lymphatic spread theory believes that endometriosis may spread through the lymphatic lumen.
