Experts remind: Small uterine fibroids can be observed, no need to rush for surgery

Nowadays, more and more women suffer from gynecological diseases, especially for some married female friends. If they do not have good living habits and regular diet in their daily lives, they may easily suffer from gynecological diseases. Among them, uterine fibroids are a common gynecological disease among women. Most uterine fibroids are benign and will not have any effect on women's bodies, but timely treatment and conditioning are required after they are diagnosed. The outpatient clinic received a young woman who reported that she had been diagnosed with uterine fibroids for a year and had been taking Chinese medicine for treatment. During the physical examination two days ago, the uterine fibroids were still there, not growing or shrinking. She was a little worried and wondered if taking Chinese medicine could eliminate the fibroids.

Experts say that many patients tend to choose to take Chinese medicine to treat uterine fibroids. They believe that Chinese medicine treatment is safer and more effective. These ideas are correct, but the effect of Chinese medicine in treating uterine fibroids is not so obvious in clinical practice. When the fibroids are small, Chinese medicine may be able to play a control role, but for larger fibroids such as those that are more than 5 centimeters, Chinese medicine treatment cannot achieve the purpose of cure at all, so patients are advised to choose treatment methods carefully.

Traditional Chinese medicine is only symptomatic in treating uterine fibroids, that is, it can relieve some symptoms caused by uterine fibroids, and is effective for menorrhagia, back pain, etc. However, there is currently no clinical data to prove whether traditional Chinese medicine can inhibit the growth of uterine fibroids.

Whether it is Chinese or Western medicine, uterine fibroids generally cannot be cured. At best, they can only control the growth of the fibroids. Therefore, if the patient's fibroids reach 5 cm or larger, it is necessary to consider whether surgical treatment is needed. The current hysteroscopic and laparoscopic minimally invasive technology can completely remove fibroids without surgery, with less damage, less bleeding, and faster recovery.

Uterine fibroids are a common tumor in women of childbearing age. Most of them are benign. If they are small in size, there is no need for treatment at all because medication is ineffective. Just have a follow-up check if there is no discomfort. Don't worry too much!

First of all, if the size of the uterus does not exceed that of a 10-week pregnancy, and the size of a single fibroid does not exceed 5 cm, especially for women over 40 years old, you can observe and do not have surgery easily. Generally speaking, small fibroids, and fibroids that grow outside the uterine cavity, that is, subserosal fibroids or intramural fibroids, do not have severe clinical symptoms, no significant increase in menstrual volume, and no severe anemia, and do not require surgery.

Not all patients with uterine fibroids can be cured by taking Chinese or Western medicine. For patients with submucosal fibroids, fibroids that are too large, or menstrual flow that is particularly heavy or even causes anemia, taking Chinese medicine for conditioning is not effective. For these patients, it is better to take hormone drugs that adjust the endocrine system, or have surgery, in order to quickly relieve symptoms. In addition, if patients with poor gastrointestinal function feel very uncomfortable when taking Chinese medicine, they should choose other treatment methods.

You can also choose not to treat and just observe and have regular gynecological examinations. However, sometimes taking some medicine can make the patient feel more at ease and psychologically comforted, which is beneficial to the treatment of the disease. In this case, taking Chinese medicine is a better choice.
