What causes women's menstrual irregularities?

Menstruation is an important physiological characteristic of women. If there is a problem with menstruation, their physical health will naturally be affected. Irregular menstruation is a common gynecological disease. Its main manifestations are abnormal menstrual timing, different bleeding volume than usual, and other diseases may occur together. So what exactly causes irregular menstruation in women?

1. Abnormal emotions

A person's mood has an important impact on their physical condition. If they are in a state of depression for a long time, their spirit is tense, and their pressure cannot be released for a long time, or if they suffer a sudden mental blow or a major psychological trauma, it may lead to menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, etc. This is because the hormones secreted by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland have a regulatory effect on other hormones such as estrogen secreted by the ovaries. Therefore, when any organ of the ovaries, pituitary gland, and hypothalamus is abnormal, it may affect menstruation.

2. Cold stimulation

When women are menstruating, their blood vessels are more sensitive to cold and hot stimuli. Therefore, if they are stimulated by cold, the blood vessels in the pelvic cavity will contract excessively, which may affect menstruation, causing oligomenorrhea or even amenorrhea.

3. Diet

In order to maintain their figure, many women strictly limit their food intake at each meal. However, blind dieting can cause great harm to the body. The fat content in a girl's body must account for at least 17% of her body weight in order to have her first menstruation, and to maintain normal menstruation, the body fat must reach at least 22% of her body weight. Excessive dieting will cause insufficient energy intake required by the body, and a large amount of body fat and protein will be consumed. The fat content is far from meeting the requirements for a normal menstrual cycle, which seriously affects menstruation. Therefore, women must pay special attention and not diet blindly.

4. Addiction to smoking and drinking

Certain ingredients and alcohol in cigarettes can interfere with physiological processes related to menstruation. According to a survey, 20% to 30% of women who smoke and drink excessively go to the hospital for treatment due to menstrual disorders. Moreover, smoking and drinking are harmful to health. Therefore, women should try not to smoke, drink less or even not drink at all.
