Is endometrial tuberculosis contagious? The answer is yes. Generally speaking, most tuberculosis cases have some possibility of being contagious, but many patients do not know it. Today we will introduce to you the mechanism of endometrial tuberculosis infection, hoping it will be helpful to you. 1. Causes of disease Endometrial tuberculosis is usually caused by the spread of fallopian tube tuberculosis. After the incubation period, when the body's resistance is poor, the tuberculosis bacteria mainly invade the endometrium and often involve the basal layer of the endometrium. 2. Pathogenesis Female genital tuberculosis first infects the fallopian tubes and then gradually spreads to the endometrium, ovaries, cervix, etc. As the endometrium sheds periodically, the endometrial tuberculosis lesions are discharged with it. The lesions are mostly confined to the endometrium, with scattered millet-like nodules in the early stage. In very rare severe cases, the lesions invade the myometrium. The uterus is normal in size or slightly smaller, and there is no abnormality in appearance. Tuberculous nodules can be seen under the endometrium scraped under the microscope, and caseous necrosis may occur in severe cases. A typical tuberculous nodule has 1 to 2 giant cells in the center, which are arranged in a horseshoe shape, surrounded by epithelial cells, and infiltrated by a large number of lymphocytes and plasma cells on the outside. The characteristic of endometrial tuberculous nodules is that the glands around the tuberculous nodules are insensitive to ovarian hormones, showing persistent hyperplasia or insufficient secretion. Severe endometrial tuberculosis may cause caseous necrosis and superficial ulcers, resulting in the destruction of most or all of the endometrium, and scars may form later, and the endometrium loses all its functions, resulting in amenorrhea. |
