New treatment method for congenital absence of vagina

New treatment method for congenital absence of vagina

The overall goal of treatment for girls with congenital absence of vagina is to reconstruct an ideal new vagina by whatever method, and the function of this new vagina should be as close to the physiological state as possible. Now, special emphasis is placed not only on anatomical restoration, but also on functional restoration, with special emphasis on being close to the physiological state in order to solve the patient's sexual life and sexual role problems.

At present, many domestic media have introduced that the treatment methods for congenital absence of vagina are mostly surgical treatments. There are more and more surgical methods. So far, there are more than 100 surgical methods, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Among them, the most commonly used domestic peritoneal vaginoplasty and sigmoid colon vaginoplasty are already familiar to everyone. But what is often overlooked is the non-surgical treatment method.

The non-surgical compression method is simple, convenient, non-invasive, safe, and does not require the payment of surgical medical expenses, but it requires the patient to have enough perseverance, be able to endure a certain amount of pain, and make persistent efforts to have hope of success. The specific method is as follows: Use a wooden round stick or a non-toxic plastic smooth round stick, the diameter of which ranges from 1.5, 2, 3 and 3-5cm from thin to thick, to compress the vestibule to make it an artificial vagina. The mold should be used starting from a small size and gradually, but the process varies according to the elasticity of the mold. Generally, compression is performed 1-2 times a day for 30 minutes. The compression technique should be inward and downward at the beginning, and then turn flat. This method is initially performed in the hospital outpatient department. After becoming proficient, the patient can be taught to operate at home by himself, but it must be remembered to return to the hospital for regular follow-up. Because the tissue inside the patient's labia is usually loose, if it is done well enough, with patience and cooperation, the success rate of this non-surgical method is very high. After a few months of treatment, the pit can be made 7-8 cm deep and about 3 cm in diameter, which can basically solve the problem of sexual life satisfactorily.

However, not every patient without vagina is suitable for non-surgical treatment. Surgery is recommended for the following cases: patients with failed non-surgical dilation, patients with functional uterus, blood in uterine cavity, obvious abdominal pain, patients who are about to get married and need to form vagina as soon as possible, or patients from other places who are not convenient for regular return visits. In addition, some special cases are considered to be suitable for non-surgical treatment after examination by doctors.
