What factors can cause pelvic peritonitis?

Gynecological diseases are the most troublesome diseases for women in life. Almost every woman has suffered from gynecological diseases. Among them, pelvic peritonitis is the most common one, but many people think it is a simple disease and can be ignored. If you suffer from pelvic peritonitis and do not pay attention to it, it is likely to cause a variety of complications. So, what are the causes of pelvic peritonitis?

1. Spread of acute fallopian tube inflammation When acute fallopian tube inflammation occurs, pus in the lumen overflows through the abdominal cavity, or perisalpingitis directly spreads to cause inflammatory lesions of the pelvic peritoneum.

2. Secondary to pelvic cellulitis.

3. Other surgical diseases such as appendicitis and diverticulitis perforation.

The entire pelvic peritoneum is congested with a large amount of serous exudate containing fibrin. When it becomes chronic, the uterine appendages and intestinal tract are widely adhered into a mass, and the greater omentum adheres to other organs like a roof from the pelvic entrance, forming a wrapped inflammatory mass. This adhesion has a certain self-protection effect, which limits the inflammation to the pelvic cavity and prevents it from spreading to the whole abdomen. The absorption capacity of the pelvic peritoneum is lower than that of the upper abdomen, and it can limit the absorption of toxins. However, there is still exudate in the adhesion gap, and sometimes there are multiple small abscesses left. Some can be completely absorbed without any traces except for tight adhesions.
