What tests are needed for pelvic peritonitis?

Pelvic peritonitis is a common gynecological disease. Many female friends suffer from pelvic peritonitis but do not know what is going on. Pelvic peritonitis refers to the inflammation of the female pelvic reproductive organs, the connective tissue around the uterus and the pelvic peritoneum. What tests are needed for pelvic peritonitis?

1. Ultrasound examination: Ultrasound examination can detect various echo areas in the mass suspected of being an abscess, indicating that there is liquid (pus) in the mass. This method is a non-invasive examination, simple and easy to perform, and the reliability can reach more than 90%.

2. Patient's self-reported symptoms: The main symptoms of the patient are abdominal pain that cannot be palpated, fever, vaginal discharge that becomes multi-colored and has a foul odor. Other symptoms may also appear, depending on the severity of the symptoms and the scope of involvement: headache, loss of appetite; nausea, vomiting, diarrhea may occur if the peritoneum is involved; frequent urination and urgency may occur if the bladder is involved.

3. Examination of male partners can help female friends confirm pelvic peritonitis. The urethral secretions of the male partner can be directly smeared or cultured for gonorrhea. If positive, it is a strong evidence, especially in asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic patients.
