Hyperprolactinemia is a disease that is not familiar to everyone. However, after the disease occurs, the patient's menstruation will change significantly, and fertility will also be affected. It will also affect the patient's vision, causing vision loss and headaches, which is extremely harmful. Next, we will introduce the clinical classifications of hyperprolactinemia. Hyperprolactinemia can be roughly divided into four categories. The first category is physiological, such as pregnancy and postpartum period, or sexual intercourse can increase prolactin. The second category is tumor-related, such as pituitary microadenomas and prolactinomas. The third category is drug-related. Sedatives or antihypertensive drugs such as morphine, chlorpromazine, and reserpine can cause increased prolactin. The fourth category is idiopathic. The patient does not have organic lesions for the time being, but the high prolactin level in the serum is called idiopathic hyperprolactinemia. The symptoms of hyperprolactinemia are also very important. 1. Changes in sexual function. Because the sex hormones in the body have changed, the secretion of sex hormones will be suppressed. In addition, the vaginal wall will become thinner and atrophy, which will cause problems in sexual life, less secretions, and decreased sexual desire. 2. Infertility. 70% of women will experience infertility because this disease can cause anovulation and luteal insufficiency. 3. Menstrual disorders. A small number of women will experience amenorrhea. However, most patients will experience less menstrual flow. Some women will also experience functional impairment, and some young women will not have menstruation during puberty. 4. Breast lactation. This is one of the common symptoms. Both breasts will secrete some milk or some milky liquid can be squeezed out. 5. Physical changes. Because of the large changes in estrogen in the body, it can cause hot flashes, palpitations, and vaginal dryness. During sexual intercourse, dryness and pain may occur, resulting in decreased libido. Some women may also become obese and hirsutistic. 6. Vision changes. Some women also have vision changes due to the presence of tumors, which can lead to blindness and dizziness. |
