Causes and symptoms of bacterial vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis, as the name suggests, is an inflammation that occurs in the female genital area. Many people do not know much about the occurrence of bacterial vaginosis. What are the causes and clinical manifestations of bacterial vaginosis? Let's learn about it from the following article.

1. Causes

1. Not paying attention to personal hygiene is the most common cause of bacterial vaginosis. For example, not cleaning the genitals, not washing and changing underwear frequently, etc., can easily cause bacterial vaginosis. Some women like to wear tight underwear or tight synthetic underwear, which may increase the temperature and humidity of the vagina. The hot and stuffy environment can easily breed bacteria and cause bacterial vaginosis.

2. The cause of bacterial vaginosis is related to unclean sexual behavior. The World Health Organization classifies candidal bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis bacterial vaginosis as sexually transmitted diseases. Both diseases can be transmitted through sexual behavior. Trichomonas can parasitize in the reproductive tract, including female and male. Male reproductive organs have no symptoms after Trichomonas, but after sexual intercourse, it may be transmitted to females.

3. Abuse of antibiotics. Many women believe that the use of antibiotics can improve the body's immunity, but this is actually wrong. Even after being infected with bacterial vaginosis, antibiotics should not be used too much for treatment. While antibiotics kill pathogenic bacteria, they also inhibit some beneficial bacteria, which increases the probability of bacterial vaginosis infection. This is also the cause of induced bacterial vaginosis.

2. Clinical manifestations

1. Vaginal discharge is grayish white, very sticky, even like paste, and uniform, but it is not purulent, and the amount is uncertain.

2. The secretion has a particularly high amine content, so it has a fishy smell. During sexual intercourse or after activity, the smell is often aggravated due to the release of amines. Adding 10% potassium hydroxide to the secretion can also release the amine smell.

3. Clue cells can be detected in wet smears of vaginal secretions.

4. The pH value in vaginal secretions increases, with a pH range of 5.0-5.5, while the normal pH is 4.5-4.7.
