What is the chance of getting pregnant with Bartholinitis?

Gynecologists say that the Bartholin's glands are a pair of glands at the vaginal opening. Their function is to secrete lubricating fluid to increase the lubrication of the penis when it is pumped in the vagina. If you have Bartholin's glands, it generally has no effect on pregnancy, but it will cause physical discomfort to the patient, so it is generally recommended to wait until the condition is cured before getting pregnant.

The greater Bartholin's glands, also known as the Bartholin's glands, are located behind the labia majora. There is one on the left and one on the right, as big as a lily. The glands open between the labia minora and the hymen behind the vestibule of the vulva.

The pathogens of this disease are some common bacteria, such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Gonorrhea. It is mostly caused by sexual intercourse, childbirth, surgery, gynecological examination or contact of the vulva with certain pollutants. The pathogens first invade the gland ducts, and a large amount of pus is difficult to discharge due to the swelling of the duct opening, which can form a Bartholin's gland abscess with a diameter of 5 to 6 cm, causing local redness, swelling and pain.

What tests should be done for Bartholinitis?

Based on the medical history, local appearance and digital examination, it is generally not difficult to diagnose. However, attention should also be paid to whether there are any abnormalities in the urethral opening and paraurethral glands. Due to severe pain, vaginal speculum examination is no longer possible. If it is not necessary, it can be temporarily suspended. Generally, secretions should be taken from the opening of the Bartholin's glands, the urethral opening, and the paraurethral glands for smear examination of pathogens.

After the acute phase of Bartholinitis, due to obstruction of the glandular duct opening, the glandular secretory fluid cannot be discharged and is retained, forming a Bartholin's gland cyst.

Principles of treatment of Bartholinitis:

1. For acute inflammation, rest in bed and treat with antibiotics.

2. Apply local hot compress or sitz bath.

3. After the abscess is formed, incision and drainage are performed, and ostomy is performed.
