What causes Bartholinitis?

Gynecologists analyze the causes of Bartholinitis. Bartholinitis is one of the common vulvar inflammations in women. Because it develops slowly and has atypical symptoms, it is easily ignored by women. The Bartholin glands are located at the back of the labia majora on both sides, and the glands open on the inner side of the labia minora near the hymen. The following is an introduction to the causes of Bartholinitis.

Due to the special anatomical location, when the vulva is contaminated by sexual intercourse, childbirth or other circumstances, pathogens have invaded and caused Bartholinitis. If Bartholinitis is not treated in time, it will cause acute suppurative inflammation and become Bartholin cyst.

Common causative factors:

1) The presence of chronic inflammation causes obstruction of the Bartholin's glands, which results in poor discharge of secretions and causes the glands to form cysts.

2) After the acute Bartholin's gland inflammation subsides, if the gland duct is still blocked and the secretions cannot be discharged, the pus is absorbed and the fluid gradually becomes clear, a Bartholin's gland cyst is formed.

3) During childbirth, lacerations on the outside of the vagina and perineum may form scars, or incorrect episiotomy may damage the Bartholin's gland ducts, causing blockage of the Bartholin's gland openings and retention of secretions, which may also cause Bartholin's gland cysts.

4) Congenital stenosis of the Bartholin's gland duct, or viscous secretions, and poor glandular fluid discharge can also lead to cyst formation.

Gynecologists explain the causes of Bartholinitis. Bartholin's gland cysts can persist for a long time after formation and develop slowly. Patients generally do not feel any discomfort, but only feel that one side of the labia is swollen compared to the other.
