How does Bartholinitis occur?

Due to the special physiological structure of women, women are more susceptible to various genital diseases than men, and they will cause great problems to women's bodies, such as Bartholinitis, which we are going to talk about today. This disease may not be heard of by many people, but it is also a very serious form of women's disease. Today we will introduce the symptoms and causes of Bartholinitis.

Let's first understand the location of the Bartholin's glands, which are located behind the labia majora on both sides, and the gland duct opens on the inner side of the labia minora near the hymen. This disease is mostly suffered by women of childbearing age. It is caused by the easy infiltration of pathogens and inflammation when the vulva is contaminated by sexual intercourse, childbirth or other circumstances.

When this disease occurs, it first invades the gland duct, causing it to present with acute suppurative inflammation, with local redness, swelling, heat, and pain. That is, the patient's vulva swells, feels burning, and has severe pain. Sometimes the patient will feel heavy and have difficulty urinating or defecating. In this case, the gland duct opening is often blocked due to swelling or coagulation of exudate, and pus cannot flow out to form an abscess, which is called Bartholin's gland abscess.

If the pus flows out, the patient will feel much more relieved, but if the wound is small and the drainage is not smooth, it may recur. Bartholinitis also includes systemic symptoms such as swollen inguinal lymph nodes, increased body temperature and increased white blood cell count. These are the main symptoms of the disease. Next, let's learn how to get Bartholinitis.

Bartholinitis is usually caused by bacteria, and the pathogens are mostly Staphylococcus, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus and Enterococcus. With the increase in the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis have become the most common pathogens. There are also anaerobic bacteria, among which Bacteroides is the most common, because Bacteroides is a normal vaginal resident and has a higher chance of infection.

From the above description, we have a general understanding of this disease, and we can see that this disease will have a negative impact on women's normal life. Therefore, this reminds women that in life, they must keep their vagina clean and have a healthy sex life. When they find a condition in their body, they should pay attention to it and go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time.
