Rest is the key to bacterial vaginosis care

Rest is the key to bacterial vaginosis care

Bacterial vaginosis is not a common disease in young women. Older women are prone to vaginal bacterial infection due to ovarian decline, lower estrogen levels, vaginal wall atrophy, thinning mucosa, and reduced local skin resistance. Elderly patients need to pay attention to the following matters in their daily lives to alleviate symptoms. Let's take a look at the key points of nursing for this disease.

1. Pay attention to your diet

Elderly people have reduced digestive function and should eat more soft, light, easy-to-digest and absorb foods. They can choose foods that nourish the spleen and kidneys, such as polished rice, glutinous rice, yam, lentil, lotus seed, coix seed, lily, red dates, longan meat, chestnut, black sesame, black soybean, clam meat, walnut kernel, animal liver, and eggs, which are beneficial to strengthening the body and reducing bacterial infection. At the same time, avoid eating spicy and irritating foods such as onions, ginger, garlic, and peppers to avoid inducing vaginal itching.

2. Precautions when taking medication

Bacterial vaginosis has many causes and types. Elderly patients have poor physical fitness. When external factors cause discomfort, they must not take medicine without authorization. This is because the bacteria that cause bacterial vaginosis in the elderly are mostly Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus and other bacteria. Unlike women of childbearing age, fungal bacterial vaginosis and Trichomonas bacterial vaginosis are the most common. Therefore, the indiscriminate use of topical hormone medications can aggravate vaginal flora imbalance. Be sure to go to a regular hospital for a detailed examination and follow the doctor's advice for medication.

3. Pay attention to vulva cleaning

Because the vulva skin of elderly female patients is generally dry and atrophic, do not use soap or other irritating cleaning products to clean the vulva, otherwise it will aggravate the dryness of the skin, cause itching, and damage the vulva skin. When cleaning the vulva, use warm boiled water, add a little salt or vinegar, wipe it clean with a clean special towel, and change underwear frequently.

4. Lifestyle adjustment

Pay attention to personal hygiene, keep the vulva clean and dry; wash and change underwear frequently, do not share bath towels and bathtubs with others, do not wear nylon or similar underwear, and boil and disinfect bath towels and underwear used during the illness. During treatment, sexual intercourse is prohibited, or condoms are used to prevent cross infection. Vaginal medication and sitz baths should be avoided during menstruation. Those with recurrent episodes should check their husband's urine and prostate fluid, and if necessary, check repeatedly. If positive, they should be treated together.

5. Pay attention to disinfection

Many people like to hang towels in the bathroom, but they don't know that such a cold and humid environment is actually the most suitable for the growth of Candida albicans, which is also the reason why many women suffer from bacterial vaginosis "for no reason". Gynecological experts at Foshan Zhongshan Hospital suggest that personal items such as towels and underwear should be hung in the sun. Women infected with bacterial vaginosis should regularly put their underwear in boiling water for 10 minutes, which can play a good sterilization role.

6. Dietary supplements

Patients with bacterial vaginosis should eat a light diet and avoid spicy food to avoid dampness and heat or damage to the yin blood. Pay attention to dietary nutrition and strengthen your physical fitness to drive away evil spirits.

7. Mental adjustment

Patients with bacterial vaginosis should stabilize their emotions, cultivate their temperament, and receive psychological treatment according to their personality and the causes of the disease, strengthen their physical fitness, and improve their immune function. Actively eliminate the inducing factors and promptly treat various inflammations of the reproductive organs.
