The harm of uterine fibroids to pregnant women

Many women are often found to have uterine fibroids after they become pregnant. Uterine fibroids are benign tumors with a very small chance of becoming malignant, but they can have an impact on pregnant women.

Early pregnancy

The presence of uterine fibroids hinders the implantation and growth and development of the fertilized egg. The probability of miscarriage in patients is 2 to 3 times that of women in normal pregnancy, and most miscarriages are incomplete, with heavy bleeding, causing great harm to patients.

Second and third trimester

Large intramural fibroids or submucosal fibroids can hinder the movement of the fetus in the uterus and cause malposition of the fetus, increase the incidence of breech presentation and transverse presentation, and increase the cesarean section rate. Uterine fibroids can cause deformation of the uterine cavity or mechanical obstruction of the placenta and fetal dysplasia, which can easily lead to premature birth.

Delivery

Uterine fibroids affect the normal contraction of the uterus, causing uterine atony and prolonging labor. Fibroids embedded in the pelvic cavity, such as cervical fibroids and giant lower uterine fibroids, can block the birth canal, hinder the delivery of the fetus, cause dystocia, and bring danger to the mother.

Tip: After pregnancy, the large increase in estrogen and progesterone secretion can promote the growth of fibroids, so close observation is required. When fibroids grow rapidly, blood supply is insufficient and red degeneration occurs, or pedicle torsion occurs, pregnant women may suddenly experience lower abdominal pain, fever, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms. At this time, go to the hospital immediately for medical treatment.
