The specific growth location of uterine fibroids may cause female infertility

Uterine fibroids are a common disease among women, which are extremely harmful to women's physical and mental health. Uterine fibroids in some special parts of the body can even cause female infertility.

1. Located under the mucosa of the uterine cavity

Fibroids located in the uterine cavity are like a spherical intrauterine device placed in the uterine cavity, which is not conducive to fertility. In addition, due to the influence of fibroids, the surface of the endometrium in the uterine cavity is ischemic, necrotic, and atrophic, which is not conducive to the implantation of the fertilized egg.

2. Larger uterine fibroids

Fibroids absorb nutrients from the body and can grow rapidly, causing the uterine cavity to expand, deform, or even become narrow, which is not conducive to the passage of sperm and can affect the normal implantation of the fertilized egg.

3. Located near the uterine horn

If the fibroids grow in the uterine horn, they may compress the opening of the fallopian tube, causing stenosis or blockage of the fallopian tube.

4. Fibroids growing in the broad ligament

Fibroids located within the broad ligament of the uterus can cause the fallopian tubes that benefit from their surface to stretch and twist, squeezing the lumen, resulting in obstruction of the fallopian tubes or widening the distance between the ovaries and fallopian tubes, thus hindering the egg-collecting function of the fallopian tube fimbria.

5. Uterine fibroids with periosteal hyperplasia

Uterine fibroids can cause the frequency, amplitude and duration of uterine contractions to be higher than the normal baseline, interfering with the normal implantation of the fertilized egg; while uterine periosteal hyperplasia can aggravate ovarian ovulation disorders, causing uterine bleeding, infection, and even female infertility.

6. Uterine fibroids located in the cervix:

Uterine fibroids located in the cervix have a more obvious effect on female conception, because the tumor compresses the cervical canal and may change the direction of the cervical opening, making it difficult for sperm to enter the cervical opening, thus causing difficulty in conception.
