Treatment measures for vaginitis in infants and young children

Treatment measures for vaginitis in infants and young children

Infant vaginitis mostly occurs in girls aged 2-9 years old. The treatment measures are as follows:

Keep your vulva clean

Pay attention to the hygiene of infants and young children's perineum to prevent infection. Instruct children to love hygiene, keep the vulva clean, wear pants with appropriate tightness to reduce friction, wash clothes of adults and children separately, and reduce bathing together or in a tub. If there is a foreign body in the vagina, it must be removed as soon as possible. When the labia minora adheres, use a small curved forceps to gently insert along the upper or lower small hole to separate them. The vulva can be treated with a 1:10000 potassium permanganate sitz bath.

Vaginal medication

The vagina is irrigated with 0.5-1% lactic acid solution through a rubber catheter inserted into the vagina, and sulfonamide or antibiotic emulsion can be injected through the catheter once a day for 5-7 days as a course of treatment;

Topical use of estrogen ointment can promote the disappearance of inflammation. Apply an ointment containing 0.1 mg of ethinyl stilbestrol with a small cotton swab deep in the vagina once a day for 2 weeks, then every 3 to 4 days thereafter for a total of 4-6 weeks of treatment.

Oral medication

Take 0.1 mg of ethinyl estradiol orally once a day, then twice a week after two weeks, and continue for 4 to 6 weeks. Do not use the drug for too long to avoid the development of secondary sexual characteristics.

Medication for infants and young children with pinworm vaginitis

Patients with pinworm vaginitis in infants and young children can be treated with fentamolin. Fentamolin has a significant effect on killing pinworms and is the first choice for treating pinworms. Take 5 mg per kilogram of body weight once at night. If there is a relapse, take it again every 2 to 3 weeks.

Note: You must strictly follow the doctor's orders and use the medicine under the doctor's guidance; a few children may experience nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea after taking promethazine; promethazine can turn the stool red and stain clothes.
