Four major hazards of cervical erosion

Four major hazards of cervical erosion

Cervical erosion is a common disease in women with active sexual life. Once diagnosed, if it is not treated in time, it will cause the following major harms:

First, it can cause infertility

When cervical erosion occurs, especially in moderate or severe cases, the cervical secretions will increase significantly, become sticky, and contain a large number of white blood cells and pathogenic bacteria, which will damage the normal physiological environment of the vagina and limit the activity of sperm, leading to infertility. In addition, the cervical mucosa proliferates due to inflammation, and polyps may grow to block the cervical opening, which will also affect the passage of sperm and cause infertility.

Second, it leads to complications.

When the cervix is eroded, it will also involve other organs and cause inflammation. For example, the pathogens of cervical erosion can ascend and cause endometritis; it can spread through the parauterine ligaments and lymphatic vessels to cause chronic pelvic inflammatory disease; when the inflammation spreads to the bladder triangle, it can cause urinary system diseases and cause irritating symptoms such as urinary pain, frequent urination or difficulty urinating.

Third, it can cause deeper lesions.

When cervical erosion occurs, the cervix is subjected to long-term stimulation from chronic inflammation, which can cause more serious symptoms such as polyps, lacerations, ectropion and cysts.

Fourth, it leads to an increased incidence of cervical cancer.

Clinical statistics show that the incidence of cervical cancer in women with cervical erosion is nearly ten times higher than that of the general population. Under the stimulation of long-term chronic inflammation, the columnar epithelium derived from the proliferation of the cervical canal may undergo atypical hyperplasia. If it is not treated without discrimination, it will gradually develop into a precancerous lesion of the cervix. Because cervical erosion is often combined with human papillomavirus infection, it is one of the suspicious signals causing cervical cancer.
